Arbor Day Celebration
“Other holidays repose upon the past; Arbor Day proposes for the future.” These are the words of Nebraska resident Julius Sterling Morton about the holiday he initiated in 1872. Although the actual day of celebration varies from state to state, all 50 state have recognized Arbor Day as a national holiday. On this day we all have the opportunity to come together as a community to make the world a better place. Planting trees is an act of kindness and optimism that not only impacts us and our neighbors, but also future generations. The trees we plant not only beautify our neighborhood which is great, but also cleans the air, provides homes to wildlife, conserves energy and topsoil and keeps the atmosphere in balance.
For homeowners, Arbor Day is an excellent opportunity to take sock of the trees on your property and plan for the future. You can inspect your trees and note any broken branches or evidence of disease or infection. After taking care of these problems you can then plant some new trees to improve the look of your property and save some on your energy costs.
Your Arbor Day celebration can be as large or small as you want. However you decide to contribute it up to you. I have found a great way to get people involved is with custom t-shirts. I’ve come across a great website that you can design your own custom t-shirts inexpensively. LoveThoseShirts.com has many different name brand styles to choose from and an array of colors. Also, they have a lot of clipart and you can add your own text. You can hand them out for free, or set up a booth to sell them at your local Arbor Day Celebration along with small trees for people to plant.
You will have so much fun designing your own custom t-shirts especially knowing it is for a great cause. I have already designed and received the shirts for this coming Arbor Day, and they didn’t even charge me a penny for freight, also I received them in less than two weeks. They came out looking great. I plan on handing out a few and selling the rest between planting a few trees and cleaning up the local park with other volunteers. Custom t-shirts are a lot of fun to wear and share with others who are working together for one purpose, our future.
“To exist as a nation, to prosper as a state, and to live as a people, we must have trees.”
– Theodore Roosevelt
